Choosing the Right Hair Style for Your Face Shape

Most people simply find a hairstyle that they like and go get their hair cut. Then they find out that a hairstyle that they loved on someone else just doesn’t look right on them. Part of the reason is because you have a different type, but what you might not even think about is that you have a different face shape as well.

Some hairstyles are just better suited for certain shapes of faces and there are seven different shapes. Before choosing a hairstyle you need to figure out if you have an oval, round, square, heart, diamond, oblong or triangular shaped face! While there are exceptions to the hairstyles suitable for different face shapes, there are guidelines to give you an idea to start with.

If you have an oval shaped face you can wear almost any hairstyle. But, experts do suggest that you stay away from full bangs and try to keep your hair out of your face. Other than that you can go for straight, curly, wavy and any length from short to super long.

People with round faces should avoid curls or fringed edges. Getting a chin length or short cut will add a little lift to the look of your face. Avoid straight bangs, curl them if you have to and wear them over to one side for the best look.

A nice layered hairstyle will greatly reduce the rigid jawline of a square face. For definition go for a wavy or curly style and opt for a shoulder length cut. Try parting your hair on the side instead of in the center and sweep it to the side to create a angle balance.

A diamond shaped face is one that is wider at the cheeks, and both the jawline and narrow forehead are about the same width. You can create the look of a oval shape by choosing a cut that will add width to the top of your head and avoid having hair that lays around your face.

A bob that is at chin length is perfect for a heart shaped face. It will give you balance by adding fullness toward the chin where you need it. But, any hairstyle that adds shape to the bottom of your face will usually look great.

Long chins and a high forehead signal an oblong shape. You need a cut that will add both volume and width to the side of your face. Don’t wear your hair down in your face, pulling it back at a level with your ears can create

the balance of wideness you need for the forehead.

Disguising a wide chin is the goal for a triangular shaped face. Short hairstyles work best to create a wider

look to the forehead. And, parting your hair off to the side slightly will also add more balance to the shape of

your face.

Instantly Drop 5-10 Pounds With Makeup

Would you love to drop ten pounds in just a few short minutes? We all know that that’s an impossible dream, but you can look like you lost weight almost instantly with a few simple makeup tricks!

There are several tricks to making a full shaped face look thinner. Highlight you brow bones and cheek bones with an iridescent powder. Fuller lips will also make your face appear thinner and you can get this effect by applying a shimmering gloss to just the center of your bottom lip.

Another trick is to use two shades of blush, one light shade and one darker shade. The apples of your cheeks should get a lighter blush, blended by rubbing in circular motions. The darker shade should be swept along your cheekbones. And, using the light shade on your forehead and nose will help your face glow!

No matter what shape your face is, bigger eyes will make everything appear smaller! Draw attention to your eyes and away from your heavy cheeks and your face will seem much thinner. Apply two coats of mascara and focus more on the edges of your lashes. A white liner used on the bottom of your eye combined with a dark liner on the top will make your eyes appear much larger.

Even the proper arch of your eyebrows will make you look slimmer! A higher arch will make your face appear to be longer instead of wider. The arch should be just over the iris of your eye and don’t go too high or you’ll end up with a frightened or startled look!

If you need to slim down a wide nose, apply highlighter down the entire length of your nose bone. Then usejust a dab of concealer that is one shade darker than your natural skin color on each side of the highlighted

line and blend the two shades. The sides of your nose will be much less noticeable because the eye will be

drawn to the lighter color.

If you’d like to disguise that double chin, use a light dusting of bronzer just along the jawline. Then apply some

to your temples and on your nose to blend the look. Using bronzer on the jawline will produce a shadow effect

that will make your chin seem smaller. You can also use a darker foundation or blush under your cheek bones

and at the jawline.
