Choosing the Right Hair Style for Your Face Shape

Most people simply find a hairstyle that they like and go get their hair cut. Then they find out that a hairstyle that they loved on someone else just doesn’t look right on them. Part of the reason is because you have a different type, but what you might not even think about is that you have a different face shape as well.

Some hairstyles are just better suited for certain shapes of faces and there are seven different shapes. Before choosing a hairstyle you need to figure out if you have an oval, round, square, heart, diamond, oblong or triangular shaped face! While there are exceptions to the hairstyles suitable for different face shapes, there are guidelines to give you an idea to start with.

If you have an oval shaped face you can wear almost any hairstyle. But, experts do suggest that you stay away from full bangs and try to keep your hair out of your face. Other than that you can go for straight, curly, wavy and any length from short to super long.

People with round faces should avoid curls or fringed edges. Getting a chin length or short cut will add a little lift to the look of your face. Avoid straight bangs, curl them if you have to and wear them over to one side for the best look.

A nice layered hairstyle will greatly reduce the rigid jawline of a square face. For definition go for a wavy or curly style and opt for a shoulder length cut. Try parting your hair on the side instead of in the center and sweep it to the side to create a angle balance.

A diamond shaped face is one that is wider at the cheeks, and both the jawline and narrow forehead are about the same width. You can create the look of a oval shape by choosing a cut that will add width to the top of your head and avoid having hair that lays around your face.

A bob that is at chin length is perfect for a heart shaped face. It will give you balance by adding fullness toward the chin where you need it. But, any hairstyle that adds shape to the bottom of your face will usually look great.

Long chins and a high forehead signal an oblong shape. You need a cut that will add both volume and width to the side of your face. Don’t wear your hair down in your face, pulling it back at a level with your ears can create

the balance of wideness you need for the forehead.

Disguising a wide chin is the goal for a triangular shaped face. Short hairstyles work best to create a wider

look to the forehead. And, parting your hair off to the side slightly will also add more balance to the shape of

your face.

Instantly Drop 5-10 Pounds With Makeup

Would you love to drop ten pounds in just a few short minutes? We all know that that’s an impossible dream, but you can look like you lost weight almost instantly with a few simple makeup tricks!

There are several tricks to making a full shaped face look thinner. Highlight you brow bones and cheek bones with an iridescent powder. Fuller lips will also make your face appear thinner and you can get this effect by applying a shimmering gloss to just the center of your bottom lip.

Another trick is to use two shades of blush, one light shade and one darker shade. The apples of your cheeks should get a lighter blush, blended by rubbing in circular motions. The darker shade should be swept along your cheekbones. And, using the light shade on your forehead and nose will help your face glow!

No matter what shape your face is, bigger eyes will make everything appear smaller! Draw attention to your eyes and away from your heavy cheeks and your face will seem much thinner. Apply two coats of mascara and focus more on the edges of your lashes. A white liner used on the bottom of your eye combined with a dark liner on the top will make your eyes appear much larger.

Even the proper arch of your eyebrows will make you look slimmer! A higher arch will make your face appear to be longer instead of wider. The arch should be just over the iris of your eye and don’t go too high or you’ll end up with a frightened or startled look!

If you need to slim down a wide nose, apply highlighter down the entire length of your nose bone. Then usejust a dab of concealer that is one shade darker than your natural skin color on each side of the highlighted

line and blend the two shades. The sides of your nose will be much less noticeable because the eye will be

drawn to the lighter color.

If you’d like to disguise that double chin, use a light dusting of bronzer just along the jawline. Then apply some

to your temples and on your nose to blend the look. Using bronzer on the jawline will produce a shadow effect

that will make your chin seem smaller. You can also use a darker foundation or blush under your cheek bones

and at the jawline.

Techniques for Different Types of Hair Care

There are as many different types of hair as there is types of skin. Your hair will either be normal, dry, oily, fine or damaged. Like your skin your hair can also fit into the combination category with oily scalp and dry ends.

Hair care and styling products come in varieties for all types of hair and when possible, choose the ones that are for your specific hair. However, there are some things that you can do to make your hair look healthier and be more managable.

Few people are lucky enough to have normal hair and if you do, your’re blessed. A weekly warm oil massage will do wonders for normal hair. And, for deep conditioning mix two egg yolks with warm water, cover hair with a vinyl shower cap and leave it on for about ten minutes.

Taking care of oily hair requires a little more work. Wash it daily and use clarifying products to help in removing the excess oil from your hair. Try to not brush your hair to frequently, it will actually stimulate oil production.

When you shampoo, rinse your hair with lukewarm or cool water instead of hot water. If you’re hair is extra oily, occasionally use one cup of vinegar with four cups of water or diluted lemon juice as a rinse. If you don’t really need a conditioner don’t use one, many will just make your hair oily.

The care for combination hair is similar to that for oily hair. But, the dry ends of your hair need extra attention. Don’t apply shampoo directly to the tips, use lather from the top of your hair. Instead of using conditioner all over your hair, just apply it to the ends.

When you feel the need for a deep conditioning treatment for your ends, use a warm oil treatment. Apply the warm oil to the ends and wrap it in a towel for a couple of hours before washing. You can also use warmed olive oil and it won’t have any added ingredients.

If your hair is fine, go with any type of hair care product that says volumizing! Volumizing products coat your hair and make it appear fuller and thicker. And, if you have a lot of problems with static, lightly spray your brush with hair spray!

Dry and damaged hair basically needs the same care, lot’s of conditioning treatments! Use gentle products to avoid drying your hair out even more and try a leave in conditioner to make your hair more manageable. Warm olive oil treatments are a great natural option.

Either your hair is naturally dry, dry from abuse or is damaged from chemicals such as coloring and perms. It’s just a fact, if your hair is severely damaged no amount of deep conditioning is going to bring it back to life. Maybe it’s time to try that new short hair style you’ve been admiring!

Basic Skin Care

All of us have skin that falls under five basic types, sensitive, sun damaged, dry, combination or oily. Several factors go into determining what kind of skin you have. Your genes play a big role in skin types, but stress, diet and even some medications that you take also promote certain types of skin.

If you have oily skin, the most important rule is to keep it clean. Using an exfoliate to unclog pores and deter any breakouts of acne and never use harsh cleansers. Choose a cleanser that is mild and doesn’t contain wax, oil or lipids. Never scrub your skin and use warm water to help dissolve the oil.

Use an astringent to remove oil and tighten the skin. Choose one that contains alcohol and acetone and apply right after cleansing. Oily skin don’t need much moisturizing, follow the rules for your cleanser, no oil, wax or lipids.

As we age our skin naturally becomes more dry promoting winkles and fine lines. The best cleanser for dry skin will contain either almond, olive or avocado oil. Massage your skin as you clean it to promote oil production. Always use a mild cleanser and be generous with the moisturizer!

Dry skin really doesn’t need an astringent, but if you feel you have to use one make sure it’s alcohol and acetone free. A good night cream that has mineral oil can rejuvenate your skin and if they contain Alpha Hydroxy or retinoid they will even help reduce age spots and wrinkling.

Combination skin care creates a little challenge, you can’t treat your whole face the same! Use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t contain soap, but does have a moisturizer. You should at least use an exfoliate on the oily areas, but don’t scrub your skin.

Products that have retinoids and Alpha Hydroxy work great for combination skin. And, you’ll get better results if you use oil free moisturizers on the oily sections and heavier moisturizers on the dry areas. Many skin care products and cosmetics are now available that are made especially for combination skin.

All natural products work best for sensitive skin, allergens and fragrances will irritate the skins surface. A mild soap made for babies works great as a cleanser and you should pat not rub the skin dry with a soft towel. Products made especially for sensitive skin will be free of any chemicals and fragrances.

If your skin is badly sun damaged you may only be able to get adequate results from a dermatologist. But, there are a few over the counter options if you only have mild or moderate damage. Alpha Hydroxy and skin preparations containing vitamin C can produce some results, but may take months.
